Bach Visits UN Headquarters
IOC president Thomas Bach is meeting with United Nationssecretary generalBan Ki-Moonon Monday in New York at UN headquarters.
According to an IOC release, both sides will sign a memorandum of understanding that «will cement the relationship between the two organizations and result in even closer cooperation.»
Bach’s visit will open with a reception at 10 a.m. and the signing of the memorandum at 11:30, followed by a group photo.
3rd Coordination Commission for PyeongChang 2018
The third Coordination Commission for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games begins Monday in PyeongChang, South Koreaand concludes onWednesday, April 30.
Throughout the course of two days, the Coordination Commission will review the PyeongChang Olympic Committee’s progress since their last meeting in 2013.
Members of the commission include chairman Gunilla Lindberg, Ottavio Cinquanta, Prince Frederik of Denmark, Rene Fasel, Gian-Franco Kasper, Barry Maister, Adam Pengilly, Angela Ruggiero, Tsunekazu Takeda, Zaiqing Yu, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Edgar Grospiron, and Todd Nicholson.
The 2018 PyeongChangOlympics are set to take place February 9 to February 25.
Equestrian Leaders Meet in Lausanne
The International Equestrian Federation votes Tuesday on whether to allow its president to serve three terms at its annual Extraordinary General Assembly.
The meeting takes place on the sidelines of the two-day 2014 FEI Sports Forum. Over 300 delegates from various national equestrian federations are in attendance at the forum this week.
The agenda for the annual forum includes items such as the event classification system for jumping, a progress report on the 2014 World Equestrian Games and a round table on vaulting.
The 77th AIPS Congress is taking place this week in Baku, Azerbaijan. Approximately 265 delegates from over 100 countries are in attendance.
Delegates of the convention will have the opportunity to tour venues for the upcoming European Games on Monday and Tuesday, courtesy of Baku 2015.
The Congress will conclude on Friday.
World Team Table Tennis in Tokyo
The International Table Tennis Federation opened the2014 World Team Table Tennis Championships on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
Competition continues through May 5.
